The short version: the bot stores your server's ID and the ID of the one channel you told it to post in. Nothing else. No messages, no member lists, no accounts, no analytics. Remove the bot and that record is deleted.
What is stored
When someone with Manage Server runs /suntzu-setup, one record
is written for that server:
| Field | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
guild ID |
Your server's numeric Discord ID | To know which server the setting belongs to |
channelId |
The numeric ID of the channel you chose | To know where to post the daily quote |
configuredAt |
When the setting was last changed | Diagnosing problems |
failures |
How many days in a row posting has failed | To switch the daily post off after three failures rather than failing forever |
disabledReason |
Why the daily post switched itself off, if it did | So /suntzu-status can tell you what broke |
That is the entire record. A real example, complete and unedited:
"265335505523048459": {
"channelId": "265335505523048459",
"configuredAt": "2026-09-30T17:35:34.035Z",
"failures": 0
}
What is not stored
- No message content. The bot does not request Discord's Message Content intent, so it cannot read your messages even if it wanted to.
- No user identities. No user IDs, usernames, avatars or
member lists are stored, including for people who run
/suntzu. - No server metadata. No server names, channel lists, role structures or member counts.
- No analytics or tracking of any kind. Nothing counts who uses the commands or how often.
Logs
The server running the bot writes an operational log holding the time each daily post ran, the numeric server ID it posted to, the name of the channel it posted in, and any errors. Logs stay on that machine, are never shared, and are truncated once they grow past a size limit.
Who can see it
Nobody but the operator. The bot is self-hosted on a private machine. No data is sold, shared, transmitted to any third party, or used to train anything. There are no third-party services, no external analytics, and no advertising.
How to have it deleted
Either of these deletes your server's record immediately, with no request needed:
- Run
/suntzu-stopin your server. - Remove the bot from your server.
The record is also deleted automatically if the bot cannot post for three days running.
One honest caveat: dated backups of the settings file are kept for 14 days so a disk failure does not force every server to set up again. A deleted record can therefore persist in those backups for up to 14 days before ageing out. Backups are never read except to restore after data loss. If you need a record purged from backups sooner, email the address below.
Children
The bot is not directed at children and collects nothing that could identify anyone of any age. Use of Discord is subject to Discord's own minimum age requirements.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes, such as collecting anything new, will be noted on the main page as well.
